Hey Phamily,
Let's congratulate Sam on going to Greenland and resolve we should visit him there this summer! 24-hour sunlight means we can work on our tans while swimming in that pristine meltwater! Wish I were going.
Here are a couple of uploads: one from a hike Lou, Peter and I made in the Grand Canyon late Feb-early March. Five days, 31 miles from Lipan Point to Grandview Point; not Mount Everest but tough for us old guys. That's Lou's trademark expression at the end of the video, sometimes indicating skepticism.
The other photo is a "cob" oven on my back patio. Cob is a mixture of clay soil and sand, quite strong when it dries, sort of like adobe without the step of making bricks out of it. There's a series of photos of the process on my Facebook page if you're interested, also if you're REALLY interested get the book, "Build your own Earth Oven" by Kiko Denzer; that has everything you need to know and was my entire guide. I hope for a lot of pizza parties over the summer, you burn a fire inside for a couple of hours, then sweep out all the coals and the latent heat does the cooking.
The pool is newly repaired (some old cracks in the bottom) and once the maple helicopters drop I'll sweep them out and begin filling, should be ready for swimming in early June. All are welcome.
